Nelson Mandela

 Nelson Mandela

“Death is something inevitable.
When a man has done what he considers
to be his duty to his people and his country,
 he can rest in peace,”

Although Mandela served only one term
as South Africa's president (1994-1999),
 his lifelong struggle to right
the ills of racism, poverty, and injustice
transformed him into an international hero
with an almost god-like quality.

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was the son of
one of South Africa's leading dignitaries,
Chief Henry Mandela of the Tembu Tribe,
He passed away on 5 December 2013
of a lung infection at his home
in Johannesburg. He was 95 years old.

A towering figure in 20th century history,
Nobel Laureate Nelson Mandela showed
how wisdom and patience can triumph
over bigotry and brute force.
Truly the Father of a Nation.

Courage is not the absence of fear
— it s inspiring others to move beyond it.

After climbing a great hill, one only finds
that there are many more hills to climb.

One Mind, One heart

   One Mind, One heart

The world has forgotten
What we should be working for
The common good, the collective

No kill or be killed, survival of the fittest
Team work needs to triumph
Love your neighbor, hug your brother
Shake hands with another color

No guilt, no shame
When we all work for the same
One world, one quest
All hearts beating as one

No republican or democrat
Only Homo sapien, human
Only skin, bones, and brain
All individuals, yet the same.

Everyone cries, the pain too much
Laughter breaks the silence
Clumsy feet, tumbling down
A hand outstretched for assistance

The wealthy hate the uneducated
They look down their noses
When they should be teaching
Saving lives, not pitying

Feed the horde, cover naked flesh
Share what is in abundance
Even just a healthy smile
Comfort your fellows, your blood family

Show love for everybody
An eye for an eye
Leaves a room full of blind men
Forgive but do not forget

There are no lepers
There is no I
There is only us, we
One mind, one heart

Beat
Breathe
Live

Ban Ki-moon in South Sudan Urging Leaders to Dialogue for Peace

The United Nations Secretary-General is
in South Sudan to urge the country's leaders
to find peace through dialogue.
Africa's newest nation has been in crisis
since December 2013 following a power struggle
between the president and his former deputy.
Ban Ki-moon told journalists he was there
"with a sad and heavy heart", after visiting displaced
persons sheltering in the UN Mission's compound.
Mr Ban also met with the President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir.

He said he was encouraged by Mr Kiir's willingness
to dialogue with his opponent and
former Vice-President, Riek Machar.

” I think it is absolutely necessary at this time,
since this crisis has begun from political issues,
that President Salva Kiir and Dr. Machar sit down
together to address this issue through dialogue,
in a peaceful way. That is what I am strongly supporting. “

The Secretary-General also received a call from Dr Machar.
Over the phone, Ban Ki-moon stressed
the two leaders' responsibility to sit down together
 and address the crisis.

Dr Machar and President Kiir are expected to be
in Addis Ababa on 9 May for a meeting of
the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

In the meantime, Mr Ban said the UN is committed
to providing assistance to the people of South Sudan,
and hopes that peace will prevail as soon as possible.

Urban Peace Movement

Urban Peace Movement

Block to Block,Turf to Turf, and Hood to Hood:

We're building a movement for Urban Peace.

The Urban Peace Movement Mission:

The mission of UPM is to transform the culture

and conditions that lead to urban violence.

We build the leadership of communities

hit hardest by street violence through fostering

non-traditional leaders who are the key

the ending this crisis.

Through community organizing,

youth leadership development,

and “culture change” events,

UPM empowers young people to overcome

 internalized oppression and work towards

Justice and Social Transformation.

We do this through:

transformational leadership work;

events to “Silence The Violence”;

helping young people spread

the message of urban peace.

Peace and Love Festival

Peace and Love Festival

The Peace and Love Festival started in 1999
as a manifestation against violence and racism

—In order to raise important issues,
by questioning the world we live in and
 to raise awareness among people.
The festival seeks to spread the message
of diversity, solidarity and understanding.
Each year has its own theme and
last year’s focus was on ‘Revolution’.

As always, the Peace and Love Festival was

more than

music and there were a lot of

dance,

spoken word, street performances,etc.

Last year the Peace and Love Festival increased

 in size and lasted

for three full festival days,

 plus three theme days.

Sweden’s elite musicians along with
international musicians performed on the stages.
As a part of the Peace and Love Festival
there was a stage
with dance performances

by professional dancers

—with choreographies

that enable the audience t

o feel the great power

of their dance expressions.
To round out the event there were poetry,
art, film,

photo and information from various organizations

who, like us, wanted to make a difference in this world.

The Peace and Love Festival helded at

Borlange,Dalarna in Sweden

June 25~29,2013.

'Though the mountains be shaken
and the hills be removed
yet my unfailing love for you will
not be shaken nor my covenant of peace
be removed.'says the Lord,

who has compassion on you.(Isa 54:10)

Mr. Gandhi

Mr. Gandhi

Gandhi, Mohandas Karamchand (1869-1948)

Gandhi battled for national liberation
and
he expressed a lot of patriotism

 towards
Indian civilization. He redefined the terms

 'nationalism'
and 'patriotism' to fit his vision.

Nationalism, for instance,
 meant many different things.

Gandhi said, "Every Indian whether he owns

up to it or not,

has national aspirations--

but there are as many opinions as there are

Indian Nationalists as to the exact meaning

of that aspiration.Gandhi's nationalism stood to disband

the Congress Party upon independence,

Its task is done. The next task is to move into villages

and revitalize life there to build

a new socio-economic structure from the bottom

upwards.He also understood patriotism differently

than his contemporaries,by patriotism, I mean

the welfare of the whole people.

To Gandhi, ideas were worth having.
He defended his vision of Anarchy in India
on this point, It may be taunted with the retort
that this is all Utopian and, therefore, not worth
a single thought... Let India live for the true picture,
though never realizable in its completeness.
We must have a proper picture of what we want,
before we can have something approaching it.

By trying to understand Gandhi's worldview,
certain questions jump out with contemporary relevance.
First off, what is our culturally appropriate
"utopian" picture of America or of the communities
 in which we live?
Secondly, what practical steps can we make
towards swaraj amidst the current global empire?
Finally, if Gandhi is right that all power resides
in individuals, and that power is derived from
an "indomitable will", then how do we reclaim
 the latent power within us,
both individually and collectively?
                                                                  (PeacePower, Josh Fattal)

The only answer for the World Peace is
in God we trust. The only solution for it origins
from its Creator himself.
Without knowing Him and His will, there is no way
for men to have a World Peace.

Grace And Peace

Grace And Peace

Grace and peace
is the perfect
gift from God our father
and the lord Jesus Christ
our king of all creations
the creator of all the seasons

Grace and peace is brought
by our Lord God our father
who show's love and gives us peace
especially in our sleep
for we are his sheep

Lord show us Grace and show
us Peace for we believe in you
as you help us through
our toughest times
we love you O lord
just like you love us
Grace and peace shall
be forever shown
when he shows
it on his own
                                        (poem by punkrocker)

For it is by grace you have been saved,
through faith--and this is not
from yourselves,it is the gift of God--
not by works,so that no one can boast.
(Eph 2:8~9)
